Enhancing STEM capability in Te Tairāwhiti

Tōnui Collab Charitable Trust strives to enhance STEM (science, technology, engineering, maths) capability in Te Tairāwhiti - specifically the STEM capabilities and confidence of rangatahi Maori.

They created bilingual STEM learning opportunities in reo Maori and English for rangatahi ages 5 - 18 to explore the diversity of STEM (such as animation, virtual reality, game development, computational thinking, robotics, graphic design, electronic engineering, augmented reality, coding) and move onto STEM pathways.

Tōnui Collab have run three marae-based STEM wānanga at Rangiwaho Marae, Pākōwhai Marae, and Whangara Marae.

Renae Lolohea captured on film some of the activities at Pākōwhai Marae which you can view here - Tōnui Collab at Pākōwhai Marae
