The J R McKenzie Trust believes that the main aim of monitoring and evaluation is to generate learning, for:
- The people and organisations undertaking the work
- Others in the field/s in which they work
- Others with an interest, including funders.
When we make a larger grant, we ask the recipient organisation to develop and implement a simple evaluation plan (if they don’t already have one). We will contribute to the cost of evaluation and try to assist in other ways. The evaluation usually focuses on generating learning useful for recipient organisation themselves (especially for making adjustments along the way) AND lessons that would be useful for others in the field.
The plan and evaluation findings will generally be made publicly available, at least at summary level. You can read some of them on this page, and we’ll hopefully be adding others over time.
