Ngā Hononga Marae Trust

The Ngā Hononga Marae (Charitable) Trust (NHMT) was formed to empower solution focused hapü and whānau groups, and individuals from the middle region of the Whanganui River to create and build sustainable, long term economic and employment opportunities.

The Trust has bought together a team of energetic volunteers to drive projects forward, and has also gathered an impressive number of partners – including local government and government agencies, local health organisations, professional bodies and local businesses.

The Trust is particularly focused on using and managing natural resources effectively and has initiatives across a range of industries – horticulture, aquaculture, agriculture and tourism.  The Trust is committed to enhancing, revitalising and conserving a stunning natural region and building the knowledge and skillbase in the people of the region which they plan to grow into self-sustaining whānau and home-based enterprises.

In keeping with the focus, the Trust has just registered Natural Earth Solutions Limited, a company delivering a number of environmental services including greenwaste composting, propertyscaping and supplying produce, including heritage varieties.
