The Trust undertakes projects in particular areas of interest from time to time. Trusts like this one have the flexibility, and some resources, to address issues that seem to be missing out, or approach in other ways areas that our regular funding processes do not seem to reach well.

Te Kāwai ToroIn 2003 the Trust identified the under-representation of Māori in the Trust’s philanthropic activities. In response the Trust establised the Te Kāwai Toro initiative. Find out more.

See HereIn 2005 the Trust funded research into the needs of children with mild and moderate vision and hearingproblems. Based on this research, the See Here project team was formed in 2006 to improve services for children with vision impairments. Find out more.

 

Past projects /  Ngā Kaupapa Mahi o Mua

Building Pacific OrganisationsBuilding Pacific Organisations was a funding programme that made grants to social service and health community organisations working with, and mainly run by, Pacific people in New Zealand. Grants from this programme were made only to strengthen governance, management and administration skills and structures. Refugee Employment Programme – This aimed to assist people from refugee backgrounds get and retain jobs, by increasing activity and knowledge in this area. It ran from 2001 to 2004. To read the history and final evaluation, click here.
