Te Kawai Toro – selected groups Print

Te Kāwai Toro is a new funding programme of the J R McKenzie Trust.  Starting in 2006, it is aimed at supporting projects run by Māori, iwi, hapū, or whānau-led organisations that will have benefits for whānau and lead to ongoing development.

(PLEASE NOTE THIS PROGRAMME IS NOT RECEIVING PROPOSALS NOW.)

Projects supported through Te Kāwai Toro are about promoting and strengthening Whānau Development.

Selected groups

These groups have been successful in gaining funding support through the Te Kāwai Toro programme:

Arai Te Uru Whare Hauora

Otepoti Dunedin

Working intensively with rangatahi and their whanau, including strengthening inter-agency collaboration

Maungarongo Pa Trust

Ohakune

Strengthening connections with and involvement of whānau through co-ordination and website development

Ngati Rangiwhakaturia – Whangaehu Marae Committee

Whanganui

Building the strengths of socially disadvantaged whānau, and developing rangatahi leadership skills

Ngatokowaru Marae Committee

Horowhenua

Supporting rangatahi development through planning, goal setting and linking with mentors from the hapu
