Application guidelines

The Trust has a two-stage funding process.  The first stage is a brief outline application designed to give us an idea of what you would like to achieve, and what you will do.  It is designed to be reasonably quick for you to complete and for us to process.

If your application is short-listed, a team from the J R McKenzie Trust will visit you, and you will be asked to submit further information, including more detailed plans.

The closing dates for applications in 2012 are 24 February and 13 July.   It is easier for us and you if you can complete the application on line.  However, if this is not possible, you can contact the office and an application form will be emailed to you.

Each organisation may only apply once per calendar year.

Now that the grants the Trust is making are often larger than in the past, there are many fewer of them.  The Trust used to give grants to about 75-80% of groups that applied, now that figure is about 2%.  So it is really worth reading the information on our website, and thinking carefully, before you put in the work to apply.

The diagram below shows you how the process works.
